Duncan
passed away in Delta,
British Columbia
on April 10, 2010 after a short but difficult struggle with cancer.
Duncan
, 52, enjoyed a 30 year career as an exploration geologist during
which he contributed to the success of numerous companies throughout
Canada
, Central and
Eastern US
,
South America
and
Africa
. Up until his untimely passing,
Duncan
served as the founding President CEO and Director of Endurance Gold
Corporation.
Duncan
will be remembered for the integrity, loyalty, honesty and scientific
excellence he dedicated to his career as a geologist.
Duncan
will also be
remembered by his friends and family for the rich life he lived
outside the field of exploration geology.
Duncan
was a philosopher with an insight into life that was sharpened by a
wry sense of humour; a writer who won several awards for his short
stories; an artist; a passionate gardener; an avid reader and last,
but not least, a passionate golfer who enjoyed equally the company of
friends on a summer afternoon or the quiet solitude of a round by
himself on an early spring morning.
Duncan
will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his partner of 21
years, Karen McNair of Ladner, B.C., his father Donald, his mother
Avonia (Dot), his brothers Gordon, Donald and Daniel and his
sister Debbie; his nieces and his many friends, neighbours, and
colleagues. A private memorial service was held on Saturday, April 17th.
A celebration of Duncan’s life for friends, family, and colleagues,
was held in Richmond, B.C. on May 15, 2010. An on-line book of

In
addition, in recognition of his integrity, honesty and
dedication to scientific excellence in the field of exploration
geology, Duncan’s family, friends and colleagues have established a
$50,000 endowment for the Duncan Forbes McIvor Memorial
Scholarship in Geology at the University of
